Blessing & Favor ~ A Covenant of Promise

Greetings blessed and highly favored ones ~ you know you are very blessed and highly favored! Have you ever thought; what is the difference between God’s favor and His blessing?  How are they different?  Or is there a difference?

Favor: The word favor has many meanings, it means ~

  • A gift given out of love
  • Being approved or held in regard
  • Excessive kindness
  • To prefer or treat with partiality
  • To aid or support
  • To resemble

So think of favor this way ~ because your Daddy loves you so much, He has given you an unmerited gift. He approves of you and holds you in high regard, He prefers you and shows you excessive kindness! Wow how awesome is that?

Also, favor means that we might resemble someone.  Many times as I was growing up, I had people tell me that I looked just like my father.  So we should want to resemble our our heavenly Father also, by our thoughts, by our actions and by our speech.  Daddy sees us in the light of all of these meanings.  Now that is what I call much favor!!

Blessing:  Is a gift of divine favor, we are blessed by God and highly favored! Being blessed is our covenant ~ the blessings are evidence of being blessed and are examples of our covenant!

Gen. 12: 1-4 Amp. “Now in Haran, the Lord said to Abram, go for yourself (for your own advantage) out away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.  I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you (with abundant increase of favors) and make your name famous and distinguished, and you shall be a blessing, dispensing good to others.  I will bless those who bless you (who confer prosperity or happiness upon you) and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you shall all the families of the earth shall be blessed ~ by you they shall bless themselves.  So Abram went as the Lord had told him and Lot went with him.  Abram was 75 years old when he departed from Haran”

Now look at Gal. 3:7-9  “Know and understand that it is really the people who live by faith who are the true sons of Abraham.  And the scriptures, foreseeing that God would justify, declare righteous, put in right standing with Himself, the Gentiles in consequence of faith, proclaimed the Gospel to Abraham in the promise, saying in you shall all the nations be blessed.  So then those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God as partners in fellowship with the believing and trusting Abraham.”

I encourage you today to move out in the strength of the Word and in faith receive and live in your covenant of promise ~ blessed and highly favored!!
